Zachary Leonsis is President and Vice Chairman of Monumental Sports & Entertainment, where he oversees the enterprise’s financial operations, infrastructure and technology, venues, and media businesses, with a focus on ensuring Monumental’s businesses operate with shared priorities and continue to deliver for fans, partners and the communities the company serves. Leonsis is also Alternate Governor for the NBA’s Washington Wizards and WNBA’s Washington Mystics and serves on the Media Committees for both the WNBA and G League.
Monumental is widely recognized for its prominent fan-facing brands, including the NHL’s Washington Capitals, the NBA’s Washington Wizards, the WNBA’s Washington Mystics, Capital One Arena, and Monumental Sports Network. The organization prides itself on operating as a fully integrated sports, entertainment, media, and technology platform based in the heart of the “DMV” in downtown Washington, D.C.
Previously as President of Media & New Enterprises, he shepherded the company through major corporate transactions, built media operations across both linear and digital platforms, and established Monumental’s esports and technology operations.
A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business, he remains deeply involved in civic and nonprofit work across the DMV region. Leonsis serves on the boards of Team Liquid, Cllct, DC Central Kitchen, Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business and The Potomac School. His leadership has earned recognition from Sports Business Journal, the Washington Business Journal, and Leaders in Sports, including induction into SBJ’s Forty Under 40 Hall of Fame.
